Our Knowledge – A New Path: Round Table on the Future of the Energy Sector
On Thursday, 16 April 2026, the Centre Nova in Velenje hosted a professional event and round table discussion titled “Our Knowledge – A New Path”, dedicated to exploring the future industrialization of energy-related companies and new development opportunities for the SAŠA region.
The event brought together representatives from industry, development institutions, educational organizations, and businesses. Through presentations and discussion, participants highlighted key challenges and opportunities for the region’s transformation.
Main topics included the growth and needs of the energy sector through 2050, the development of business locations, attracting investors, the competitive advantages of the SAŠA region, and the role of knowledge, research, and innovation in creating new economic activities.
The participating speakers shared perspectives and experience in the fields of energy technologies, regional development, industrial investments, legislative frameworks for regional restructuring, and the research infrastructure of the Faculty of Energy Technology at the University of Maribor.
Special attention was also given to the round table discussion, where representatives of successful companies spoke about opportunities for transitioning into new business activities, the needs of the economy, and the importance of cooperation between companies, research institutions, and the local environment.
The event opened many relevant current questions while also presenting new development pathways that can significantly contribute to the economic transformation of the region.
The ideas and initiatives exchanged provide a strong foundation for further steps and future projects.
