Presentation of a Nextistence Institute Partner

At the business forum Digital and Green Transition in Energy Supply, participants had the opportunity to learn about a new technology for producing hydrogen through gasification of various waste materials.

According to the media outlet Finance, the facility began development five years ago under the leadership of Vjekoslav Majetić at DOK-ING. The system is capable of processing different types of waste, from plastic to organic waste. It consists of a chamber in which a vacuum is created, after which the contents are heated to 1,000°C and above. During this process, the volume of waste is significantly reduced, producing a smaller quantity of solid materials and gases.

Among the solid outputs are ash and soot, while hydrogen is produced as one of the gases.

Approximately 1 kilogram of hydrogen can be produced from 20 kilograms of waste. All testing on the prototype development facility has so far shown that the system functions successfully, and accredited institutions have also issued certifications.
